RCT is a leading manufacturer and supplier of control and automation solutions for the mining and industrial sectors. Working in the R&D department you will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering team focused on the development of embedded products.

Role

As an Embedded Software Developer you will be responsible for integrating device drivers and low level software into a new product we are developing in embedded Linux. You will work in a modern Agile team and have regular interaction with software developers , mechatronics engineers, project managers, and product managers. Hence it is vital that you are a team player and have good communication skills.

Your focus will be integrating a graphical display and user interface into a new Embedded Linux product line. You will also be required to assist in supporting our existing mature product line.

The successful candidate will be a productive and motivated individual, with strong technical knowledge, and have a commitment to delivering high quality embedded products. You must have a minimum of 5 years relevant experience, and possess a tertiary degree in computer science, mechatronics, electronic engineering or equivalent.

Essential Technical Skills:

  • At least 3 years in embedded software C / C++ development
  • Embedded Linux and device driver development
  • Low level code development and debugging
  • Communications (Wired, Wireless, CAN, J1939, Modbus, RS232, TCP/IP)
  • Qt or similar

Desirable Technical Skills:

  • Agile methodology and Atlassian tools
  • Embedded ARM platforms
  • Linux Tool Chain
  • Read and understand electronic schematics and data sheets
