Power/Economy Control

Genuine fuel savings across your haulage fleet
Power/Economy Control

A haul truck’s haulage process accounts for about 30 per cent of the total energy used on site, making it the number one consumer of energy.

Reducing fuel consumption across a haulage fleet can not only result in significant savings but help reduce the carbon footprint and RCT’s Muirhead® Power/Economy Controller can help.

The solution has proven to reduce fuel consumption by a minimum of 11 per cent across a haul truck fleet; which is substantial if you consider a fleet of 20 haul trucks averages about 33,600 litres of fuel a day. These savings are achieved by the system automatically derating the engine when an unloaded truck is being driven and revert back to full power when loaded. If full power is required during a time the truck is unloaded, a boost switch can be incorporated into the system and once activated, it allows for a momentary increase in power. This option is suitable for trucks equipped with an electronic accelerator pedal.

Further savings can be achieved by automatically derating the engine at maximum horsepower during the dumping cycle. This process will not affect the lifting capacity, as long as the hydraulic pumps can still achieve the required RPM.
