RCT succeeds at Worthy Parts 2019

Autonomous solutions specialist RCT is thrilled with the result of the Worthy Parts Industry Link Auction and Expo in Kalgoorlie last week.

Staff from RCT’s Kalgoorlie branch attended the two-day event and showcased the company’s automation and control products, protection systems and parts range.

Mining industry workers and families alike were drawn to RCT’s Automation Centre which simulated how the company’s automation technology is being utilised at mines around the world.

RCT’s staff engaged with roughly 200 individuals over the course of the event who represented Australian mining companies, mining suppliers and civil contractors.

RCT Account Manager Scott Phillips said the event presented an invaluable opportunity to engage with everyone in the Goldfields region.

“Everyone loved the opportunity to sit in the Automation Centre and to see how equipment operators can use this technology to safely carry out various mining activities in the region and around the world,” he said.

“The Worthy Parts Expo enabled all the local mining industry figures to come together under one roof and being able to network and engage with everyone at this event has been very valuable for us.”

“We fielded a lot of enquiries about our ControlMaster® automation range as well as our Muirhead® protection systems.”

“We also had the unique opportunity to meet with motorsports legend Casey Stoner who was very interested in our automation technology.

RCT also contributed to an expo charity project by installing our ControlMaster® Teleremote technology and Muirhead® Fuel Cap Isolation system onto a refurbished CAT R2900G underground loader which was auctioned at the expo with the proceeds being donated to a local charity.

RCT is looking forward to attending similar projects in the future.

Automation specialist RCT is looking forward to exhibiting at the forthcoming Worthy Parts Industry Link Auction and Expo in Kalgoorlie from October 24-25.

For the second year in a row RCT will be exhibiting its suite of automation products, protection systems and parts range to attendees at the expo.

The centrepiece of the company’s exhibit is the ControlMaster® Automation Centre which enables machine operators to safely manage mobile mining plant at multiple mining operations around the world.

The company’s staff will be networking with mining industry representatives and members of the local community and will be available to answer any questions about RCT’s technology.

RCT Kalgoorlie Branch Manager Rick Radcliffe, Business Development Manager Mining – APAC Ryan Noden, Automation and Control Product Manager Brendon Cullen and Goldfields Account Manager Scott Phillips will available to speak with attendees.

RCT Kalgoorlie Branch Manager Rick Radcliffe said the company’s staff are thrilled to attend the expo.

“The expo has previously been an invaluable opportunity to network with key mining industry figures who are all under one roof at the same time,” he said.

“Everyone will be able to view the Automation Centre and learn about the significant safety benefits and productivity improvements that it can bring to mining operations.”

“RCT has a strong reputation throughout the Goldfields mining industry and it is always rewarding to speak with clients to see how we can continue to improve their operations.”

RCT will be exhibiting at stands 2-3 at the Cruikshank’s Sports Arena from October 24-25.

The inaugural Worthy Parts Industry Link – Auction and Expo in Kalgoorlie has generated strong interest among local and national mining executives for RCT’s automation products.

At the forefront of RCT’s stall at the two-day event held on December 3−4 in Western Australia was the new Automation Centre showcasing the ControlMaster® suite of products.

The Automation Centre was redesigned with operator comfort and functionality in-mind and consists of an ergonomically designed leather chair, four high definition screens and a new navigation controller device.

ControlMaster® includes Teleremote solutions and Guidance Automation sporting Driverless technology, Point-to-Point and G-Dash features.

RCT Automation and Control Product Manager Brendon Cullen said they spoke to roughly 100 people over the course of the event.

Most of the people we spoke to were mining industry executives with another 20 per cent of people representing original equipment manufacturers and the remaining 20 per cent from mining industry suppliers, he said.

“The attendees had a lot of positive reactions about the aesthetics and ergonomics of the Automation Centre and they found the four screens to be extremely helpful in presenting information,” he said.

“Most of the enquiries we received related to ControlMaster® but we also fielded some interest about EarthTrack and how companies could better utilise their machine data.”

Mr Cullen said the machine auction was particularly useful in attracting mining companies from the region.

“Many companies attended the event to sell and buy equipment and so the event presented a great chance to network with contacts in the one place rather than travel out to individual mine sites.”

“The event was well attended by eastern states-based mining companies and even international miners and it is something we would like to consider participating in next year.”

RCT’s new Automation Centre technology will be on full display at the inaugural Worthy Parts Industry Link – Auction and Expo event in Kalgoorlie early next month.

The two-day event is expected to attract a crowd of 2000 national and international mining industry guests and will feature more than 100 stalls manned by mining sector service providers and an auction of 500 mining equipment parts and associated machinery.

Attendees will be able to test the Automation Centre – which has already been deployed at mines around the world – and speak to RCT specialists at the company’s stall 4A-5A.

The recently upgraded Automation Centre was designed specifically with operator comfort and functionality in-mind and consists of a leather chair, high definition screens and a new navigation controller device.

The chair itself is ergonomically designed with eight electrically adjustable air bags in the seat and back cushions to provide optimum comfort and support.

RCT’s Automation and Control Product Manager Brendon Cullen said as automation technology becomes more common in the global mining industry operators will be sitting for longer periods of time and need that higher comfort level.

“The Automation Centre has recently upgraded hardware and incorporates a high-powered PC which gives our clients the opportunity to expand their technology should they wish to upgrade their technology from Line-of-Sight to Teleremote Control to Guidance Automation,” he said.

The new navigation controller replaces the system’s previous touch screen and creates a better experience for the operator.

The screens separately display a wide angle view of the working area, a preview screen, which can facilitate another machine operating on Guidance Control (also known as Multiple Machine Control) and the third screen can be used for RCT’s G-Dash feature and other video streams.

Guidance Control allows one operator to simultaneously control more than one machine from the same operator station, increasing productivity, efficiency and safety.

G-Dash provides operators with real-time graphical information displaying machine speed, RPM and gear, laser degradation, signal strength, pitch and roll and more options.

“Through the consultation process the operators told us they wanted more machine information at hand during shifts and this is where G-Dash evolved from,” he said.

“Visitors to our stall will be able to sit in the Automation Centre and test out all of these features over the course of the two days.”

The expo will take place on December 3-4 at the Cruikshanks Sport Arena on Federal Road. Register here for your pass.
