The Muirhead® Engine Shutdown Controller (excess idle shutdown system) is designed to detect if the machine has idled for long periods and safely shuts off the machine. The system also has a multi stage warning output to alert any operators that the machine has been idling for too long and will be shutdown soon.
It also protects diesel engines and turbo chargers against immediate shutdown damage by keeping the machine running for a pre-set period once the key has been turned off, allowing the components time to properly cool down. The system has the ability to sense the ground speed or park brake status of the machine to ensure it is not driving while in idle down mode and the key is in the off position.
