About 150 golfers took to the green at the Cobar Bowling and Golf Club to partake in the Inter-mine Golf Challenge on Saturday, July 30.

The annual event is organised by three local mines: Peak Gold, CSA and Endeavor, to raise money for not-for-profit charities and organisations in the town, including local schools, hospitals and sporting clubs.

More than 80 companies supported this year’s event, contributing gifts, donations and sponsorship and of course players for the day!

RCT’s NSW Account Manager Gavin Selth proudly represented the company, teaming up with Tritton Mine’s Electrical Superintendent, Mark Durrington and Becker Mining’s Technical Service Manager, Graham Jones.

The competition got underway early with the first teams taking to the course at 7am in ideal playing conditions.

After 18 holes of competitive golf all of the teams converged to the facilities club house for the awards ceremony.

Peak Gold Mine’s team came away with the all-important Inter-Mine trophy; however everyone came away a winner on the day with all teams receiving a prize for participating.

While it was the first time Mr Selth participated at this event, it’s becoming quite the tradition for RCT to partake.

Mr Selth said it was a fantastic event that brought the Cobar community together to socialise and raise money for some worthy local organisations.

“It was a very successful day! There was a great turn out, perfect weather, good company and a significant financial contribution raised to give back to the Cobar community,” he said.

“I played a very average round of golf but lucky for me taking part and the enjoyment of the day was more important than the score.”
