An idling machine costs money. Being able to prevent excess idling reduces fuel usage and engine wear to significantly reduce operating costs across a fleet.
The Muirhead® Excess Idle Timer systems are designed to reduce these costs by warning, or safely turning off machines that have idled for a long period of time.
These systems can be programed to allow for the engine to idle for a predetermined time. This time frame ranges from 1-12 minutes, in 1 minute increments; allowing the system to cater to specific site’s operational requirements.
In addition, it will also protect diesel engines and turbo chargers from immediate shutdown damage; allowing the engine to idle for a set period of time before final shutdown occurs.
The Muirhead® Excess Idle Timers are multi-voltage units to suit applications across all machine types. The kit includes a LED indicator with label, an alarm with mount, a switch to be mounted in the dash and a loom. Device configuration is carried out on a PC using the Muirhead® Programmable Controller Utility software package (PCU).
