The RCT liquid level probe is designed to sense the presence of conductive fluids, such as engine coolant and windshield washer fluid. It can also be used as a direct replacement for the now obsolete Ford coolant probe used in its popular late “X” series passenger car range.
It is generally mounted in the top of the tank so the lower portion of the probe is submerged in the fluid. When the probe is covered by fluid, an electrical path to ground is completed. The absence of fluid will interrupt this path to activate a warning light or audible alarm of an engine warning or protection system.
Suitable for a variety of aftermarket low coolant warning kits, the probe is designed for long service life with its stainless steel core and nylon 66 body, complete with 1/8 NPT thread.
A separate fitting is available for those installations where the radiator does not provide a suitable fitment location. The fitting is made from brass with a generous flange for ease of soldering or brazing.
