Most mine operations are currently faced with the challenge of rising fuel and maintenance costs of their mobile fleet and the ability to reduce these excess costs directly impacts the viability of a mine operation.
RCT designed the Komatsu 785 Haul Truck, Power Mode Bypass to assist mine and maintenance managers in controlling fuel consumption on this particular haul truck model.
The system automatically selects either the power, or economy mode depending on the requirement. This is achieved via a controller which is interfaced with the machine power/economy switch. When the strut sensors detect a load, the power mode is automatically selected and when the haul truck is empty, the economy mode is selected.
An inefficient operation, resulting in higher fuel consumption and higher fuel costs is minimised when the power mode is not required and economy mode is engaged.
